The challenge

What is underneath decides how long it lasts

Most driveways and patios that sink, crack or puddle fail because of the sub-base and drainage, not the surface you can see.

We have delivered specialist groundworks across the North West since 2008. We know where these projects go wrong, and we plan for it before work starts.

What we deliver

Driveways & patios, done properly

Flagging

Indian stone and paving for patios and paths. We will advise on the approach, pattern and product to suit the space.

Stone

Gravel driveways edged with setts, built to reduce maintenance and keep the stone where it belongs.

Tarmac

Tarmac with block or sett edging. Practical, hard-wearing and well finished.

Our process

Site to sign-off

Three steps, whether it is a machine base for a factory or a treatment plant for a farmhouse.

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the project

Call us or send the drawings. If it helps, we will arrange a site visit.

  2. Step 2: A clear price, with the risks identified

We review the ground conditions, access and programme, and raise anything that could add cost later, while it is still inexpensive to resolve.

  3. Step 3: Delivered and signed off

Built to programme by our own team and plant, and handed over with the paperwork that goes with it.

What is at stake

When groundworks goes wrong

  • A surface that sinks or cracks within a few winters
  • Standing water after every downpour
  • A price that grows once the work has started

When it is done right

A driveway or patio built properly from the ground up, to a timeline and estimate agreed before work starts.

What affects the price

Every project is priced on its own requirements. These are the factors that make the biggest difference, and we will discuss each one with you before work starts.

  • Area of the driveway or patio
  • What must be removed first
  • Stone, flags or tarmac
  • Drainage and edging
  • New detached brick house with external groundworks being prepared around it
External works around a new detached house
  • Driveway with a band of setts and a gravel surface
    Setts and gravel driveway
  • Long gravel driveway edged with setts leading to a house
    Gravel drive, sett edging
  • Tarmac driveway with a block paved edge in front of a house

  • Tarmac driveway curving to a timber gate
